It helped with my spanish speaking skills… I was practicing with them (the Dominican students). It broadened my social connections because I was keeping in contact with a couple of them (the students from a school in the Dominican Republic) after the trip.

I feel like it made me more confident with making new friends. Personally, Ive never been amazing at that and the experience of being just thrown in… was motivation to just be out there. Spending time with them made me grow as a person and as a friend.

[The trip] really had an impact on me, because I didn’t really know what their culture was beforehand. I didn’t know what to expect because I had never been to a Spanish speaking country before, or even out of America. It was such an awesome atmosphere to be in and it showed me that the culture there was very welcoming and enthusiastic.
